Doubles Match Play - Underway

June 4th. Pat Masden and Mike Bass faced off against Shane Davis and Scott Squires in a B flight second-round match. Despite a huge crowd of onlookers, both teams stayed focused in a tight contest through 13 holes. The turning point came on 14 when Davis and Squires stumbled, opening the door for Masden and Bass. They capitalized by winning the next two holes to seal the victory. Mike fired an impressive 74, carding three birdies — including two net eagles! Rumor has it, the crowd is still recovering from the excitement — and from Mike’s birdie dance celebration. Masden and Bass advance to round 3.

May 25th: The team of Stef Depauw and Jonathan Rideout went extras to defeat Chris Barrett and Terry Ashbaugh.  The match was close throughout.  Chris and Terry tied the match on 17 when Chris carded a birdie net eagle.  The 18th was halved forcing a playoff where Rideout and Depauw prevailed  on #1 - going net birdie - par respectively.

May 23rd: Mark Hubrich and Mark Hardy took on Dave French Sr. and Jr. in a hard-fought match this Friday. While neither side brought their ‘A’ game, it was a tight and exciting battle throughout. Hubrich and Hardy never led until Hardy drained a clutch par putt on the 17th to go one up. French Sr. answered with a 15-foot birdie on 18 and Hubrich kept things alive with a gritty par from the rough, sending it to extra holes. The match finally ended on the third playoff hole when Hardy rolled in a 15-footer for the win. A fun match all around.

May 18th — Matt Casey and Jason Luke came out strong and then hung on to defeat Brady Westwood and Nathan Browner - closing them out on #17.   Casey and Luke fired a pair of 36's on the front to go up by 8 at the turn but Westwood and Browner rallied to close the gap to two before being closed out on #17.   A well played match indeed.

May 11th.  Jeff and Steve Sweet locked horns with Chip Wagner and Mike Kaelin this past Sunday.   The match was back and for the with it knotted up through 11.  The traded punches over the next 3 holes until Wagner/Kaelin finished the deal on #15.   They will meet Melnik/Flischel next in round three.

May 7th — Pat Masden and Mike Bass rolled their way to victory, closing out Aaron Bray and Dave Dewilde on hole 15 with a red-hot putting performance.  Pat Masden and Mike Bass caught fire on the greens, and that was all they needed to take down Bray and Dewilde. “We made a lot of putts,” said Masden after the match. Pat carded a steady 79, while Mike followed with an 82. The duo advances to round two, where they’ll face Shane Davis and Mike Squires.

May 2nd. Chris McKinney and Brian Maraman couldn’t keep up with the firepower of Casey Goins and Sheldon Hoagland in their first-round match Friday. Casey went 5 under on the par 5s (three birdies and an eagle), while Sheldon fired a steady 1-over 73 to close things out on the 14th hole. Casey and Sheldon advance to face Thomas Bryan and Ray Wampler in round two.
